It occurs to me that we haven’t had any outfield play yet.

As anyone who has tried this knows, players seem to spend most of their effort on getting in between the photographer and the action. Still, with patience and luck, you can often disentangle a few action shots. My approach is very much brute force: I bang off 2-3,000 pictures and spend a day trying to pick out 200 good crops for the club site.

Here’s a characteristic surging run, ball at feet, from Jack Haire at #10.
